ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome to S. Stephen’s – especially to our visitors and guests! We’re glad to have you with us. Please join us for Coffee Hour following the 8 am Mass in the Narthex and following the 10 a.m. Mass in the Great Hall upstairs. If you have any questions or special needs, please speak to one of the ushers, who will be glad to assist you.

Joining us with small children? – We are so glad you are here! Our Sunday School program and nursery care are on hiatus for the summer, but if parents and small children need a break during Mass, please feel free to use the nursery. The ushers can direct you.

My S. Stephen’s Ministry: Bobby RoseHello. My name is Bobby Rose. One of my ministries here at S. Stephen’s is as an acolyte. I have been serving on the altar in various capacities for over 20 years. I find it both uplifting and spiritually rewarding to give thanks and glory to G-d and hopefully allow others to join in worshiping and honoring Him who made us all in His image. To G-d be the kingdom the power and the glory now and forever. If you are interested in assisting with this ministry, talk to Richard Noble or contact myself after Mass or by email at PoohAndRoo2@gmail.com.

Volunteer for Acolyte Rota – S. Stephen’s has a need for some additional volunteers, aged anywhere from 9 to 99, who would like to be trained to serve as acolytes for the 10:00 am Mass on Sundays and for special services throughout the year. To reiterate the announcement above, if you are (or someone you know is) willing and able, please speak to Richard Noble, who can arrange for training. Thank you!

Calling all bakers – Our ever-popular lemonade, coffee, and sweets stand on the church steps needs contributions and donations for Brown Student Move-In and Student Orientation/Convocation Weekend (8/31 through 9/3). All kinds of goodies are needed, including vegan and gluten-free options. Please consider helping with this important ministry which raises the profile of S. Stephen’s and helps attract students for the Episcopal Ministry at Brown/RISD (EMBR) program run by Jacob Ihnen. Thank you!

Altar Flower Offerings – Please consider making an offering of flowers to help beautify our worship of God in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a special event. Arrangements in the church’s brass vases cost $25 each, for a total of $50. Call or email the office to make the arrangements.

Get to know our Interim Rector and the Bible! – Please consider joining Fr. Mead and others from the parish with an informative and entertaining trip through the Acts of the Apostles. The group meets on Sundays in the library from 9 until 9:45 am. Please note there are only two more chances to participate after today, as Sunday 8 September will be the last day we gather for this Bible study.

Unable to get to Mass or want to review a sermon? – Sunday sermons are now available on the parish website in text and audio — check it out! While you are at it, spend a few minutes listening to "Mead's Meanderings,” two minutes of pithy observations made each week by our interim rector about S. Stephen's.

George St. Construction making progress! – Thanks for your patience while Brown University continues its construction work on George St. There is a total of 5 parking spaces available to S. Stephen's members on either end of the block. Let the police officer know you are on your way to daily Mass or have business in the office. You should have a yellow S. Stephen's placard on your dashboard if using these spaces (available in the office).
