Souls Day – Requiem for the
Commemoration of all Faithful Departed will be Monday 2 November at 6 pm,
preceded by Evening Prayer in the Lady Chapel at 5:30 pm. If you would like the
names of departed loved ones read at the Mass, please legibly fill out the form
included in today’s Kalendar, and either give it to an usher or slip it through
the office door mail slot before you leave. The deadline for submissions is
Thursday, October 29th.
Steve’s Poetry Slam – On
Sunday 1 November at 3 pm, all are invited to attend the second meeting of
Steve’s Poetry Slam. All parishioners are welcome. Please bring two poems, one
to read and discuss and a second in reserve. If you have questions, please see
Tom Oakes.
Lecture-Recital – On Sunday 8 November at 4 pm,
in conjunction with the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Guild of
Organists, we will host a lecture-recital entitled “The Improvisations of Gerre
Hancock”, featuring Peter Stoltzfus Berton, organist/choirmaster at St. John
the Evangelist in Newport, and former assistant to Hancock. This event is free.
All are welcome.
Goodwill
Industries – There is a clothing
collection box in the Great Hall for the next few weeks on behalf of Goodwill
Industries. One of their objectives is helping people in need to find
employment, and to that end, they are accepting donations of clothing suitable
for job interviews. If you have anything at home you can spare, please bring
it.
