Society of Mary – The Society of Mary will meet this Saturday, 13 August for 9 am Morning Prayer, 9:30 Mass, then recitation of the Rosary. Everyone is invited.

Summer Patronal Festival – This morning we celebrate the feast of the Finding of the Relics of St. Stephen at both Masses, which commemorates the finding of the relics of Saint Stephen in the year 415 by the priest Lucian at a place called Caphar-Gamala near Jerusalem. Churches dedicated to Saint Stephen sometimes keep this feast as a patronal festival in addition to Saint Stephen’s Day on December 26^th.

Institution of Fr. Nathan Humphrey as Rector of St. John’s, Newport – will take place next Sunday 14 August at 4 pm. After several years as a diocesan mission with Fr. Humphrey as Vicar, St. John’s has recently regained parish status and their Vestry has elected Fr. Humphrey as Rector. This is an occasion for celebration. Bishop Knisely will preside at the Institution Mass and the Most Rev. Frank T. Griswold, III, former Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, will preach.  Please note that this liturgy will also serve as our two parishes’ joint celebration of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15th). Parishioners and friends of S. Stephen’s are cordially invited to attend.

This is part of our continuing series of joint celebrations with St. John’s, Newport. The preacher will be Deacon Buck Close. (Please note the time change from the normal Saturday schedule. Morning Prayer will be said as usual at 9 am, but Mass is postponed to 11 am.)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Saint Mary Magdalene (July 22^nd) – a major feast of the church year, will be kept on Friday with Angelus at 12 noon, followed by Low Mass at 12:10 pm.

Eucharistic Adoration – This Saturday 23 July, the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament will sponsor approximately an hour of silent prayer and meditation in the Lady Chapel before the Blessed Sacrament, beginning shortly after the end of the 9:30 am Mass, and concluding by 11 am. All are welcome and invited to participate.

Stephen's monthly Requiem Mass will be offered at on Monday 11 July at 6 pm in the Lady Chapel (following Evening Prayer at 5:30 pm), remembering departed parishioners whose year's mind falls during July. Please let Fr. Alexander or Fr. Yost know any other names of the Departed whom you would like remembered at this Mass. A brief informal meeting of the S. Stephen Protomartyr Branch of the Guild of All Souls will follow the Mass. All are welcome and invited to attend.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Our Lady of Providence Ward of the Society of Mary will meet on Saturday 9 July in the Lady Chapel for Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 10 am (following Morning Prayer at 9 am and Mass at 9:30 am). Breakfast and an informal gathering will follow in the Great Hall. All are welcome.
